Our mission is to plan beforehand to do what people always do in the aftermath of a disaster:
They first attend to the safety and immediate needs of themselves and their family.
Next, they join with neighbors to ensure everyone is safe and accounted for.
Then, they find ways to sustain each other until things return to normal.

Who We Are
The Brickyard neighborhood includes about 80 households and is defined geographically to include people involved in the original formation of this preparedness group. Because the area is so large, we are organized into six different block areas, each with a contact person. While we cannot logistically expand the size of our area, we can help anyone interested in forming their own group .
What We Are Doing
Our main focus is on preparing for a significant disaster such as a major earthquake. We gather regularly to practice skills, listen to guest speakers, and address specific issues. We are accumulating supplies and acquiring skills that will allow us to provide immediate triage and medical care, set up emergency short-term food and shelter assistance, and ake care of ourselves until help arrives.

How You Can Get Involved
Join us every other month for planning and hands-on training sessions. Everyone is encouraged to pick up new skills that will be helpful during a disaster, and everyone is welcome, no matter what skills and knowledge they can contribute.
Beyond attending meetings, we would love help with block captains and/or committees, photography for our website, etc. See About Us page for further information.
